Diagonal Mar

Diagonal Mar’s full name is Diagonal Mar i el Front Marítim del Poblenou, and whilst it is a small area in Sant Martí, it is also one of Barcelona’s newest areas. It gained its name from the fact it is located between the start of Aveneida Diagonal and the sea (mar in Spanish and Catalan).

Diagonal Mar is Barcelona’s answer to Miami, where residents can live in modern buildings constructed in the 2000s and featuring luxuries such as pools, gyms and padel courts. The beach is just a stone’s throw away, and many apartments offer an enticing view of the Mediterranean. The area also houses the lush park Parc de Diagonal Mar, the Diagonal Mar shopping centre, and the popular Palo Alto Market.

The closest metro station is Selva de Mar, from where you can reach the city in 20minutes. In addition to the metro, the area is also served by several bus lines and the tram network.
